HIROSHIGE. IL MAESTRO DELLA NATURA (HIROSHIGE. The Master of Nature)

17th March – 13th September 2009 The exhibition was a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the works of one of the greatest Japanese artists, Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), who influenced painting in Europe, particularly Impressionism and Post Impressionism. Even Van Gogh was inspired by his technique and themes. Hiroshige was one of the most important exponents of Ukiyo-e art (images from the floating world) and an undisputed Master of landscapes.
The exhibition explored all of Hiroshige’s works and favourite themes: nature, animals, landscapes, journeys and a special section testified how this Master influenced the vision of the first photographers.
