Permanent collection
The Fondazione Roma’s prestigious and abundant artistic heritage had been kept in the rooms of the historical headquarters of the Foundation, Palazzo Sciarra Colonna, for a long time until the Chair, Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, decided to allow the public to view the collection, thus increasing the cultural offer of the city of Rome and promoting his idea that beauty is a tool for social and spiritual development. The Foundation’s private collection was shown for the first time in 1999 during the exhibition “Una Collezione da scoprire: capolavori dal '500 al '700 (A collection to be discovered: masterpieces from the sixteenth to eighteenth century)”. In 2003, when the Museo del Corso, now Fondazione Roma Museo, became a more organised museum, a special gallery for the permanent exhibition was created in the 'Caveau', so called since it was once the vault of a bank.
Fondazione Roma’s artistic heritage will soon be again on show to the public as soon as the Museum has been moved into the Palazzo Sciarra-Colonna, an authentic cultural centre at the service of the community.
